After being knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid, Jamie Carragher commented that Liverpool need to buy more right-backs, especially when Alexander Arnold is not good at defence.
Sharing after the second leg against Real Madrid, Jamie Carragher said that Liverpool need to buy a right-back to be able to increase competitiveness as well as as a backup plan for Liverpool.
Speaking to CBS Sports, Carragher said: " I'm worried, really. Not only for Liverpool but also for Arnold. This season, I can't remember the number of times Arnold has shown weakness in defense anymore. I don't think this should go on any further.
The problem with Liverpool is that competition for the right-back position over the years has been meager. Almost Arnold did not have to compete for the position with any name. One of the reasons is because he's so good, yes. Buying a player and being on the bench all the time is not a good idea. But it's time for things to change.

Liverpool should seriously consider buying another right-back next time. Trent really needs competition and a break next time. He's been playing at a very high level all these seasons, almost every week without a break.
Throughout the years, Arnold has always shown his ability to attack is superior to the defense aspect. But the fans understand that his defense is not good enough and the future may be the same.
I don't blame Trent at all. He has great qualities, I am very proud to have a player from Liverpool who overcame all difficulties to become the mainstay of the club. But at the end of this season, maybe Arnold needs to think seriously about his right-back position."
Since joining Liverpool's first team, Alexander Arnold has played 262 matches for the Anfield team. The player born in 1998 is almost always the main starter in the Liverpool squad, except in the case of injury.
